Schultz, Edward R. (12 Aug. 1882 - 9 July 1948)

Edward R. Schultz died Friday afternoon at 5:15 o’clock at the age of 65 years at his home in Colby after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Colby, Wis., Rev. N. B. Beschta officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pallbearers were John Wolf, Peter Apfelbeck, C. J. Kraus, Nick Gierl, William Hackel and William Harry. Flowers were in charge of Cecelia Wolf, Marie Wolf, Bernadette Engeldinger, Elaine Haas, Beverly Gibbons, Dolores Firnstahl.

Mr. Schultz was born in Cascade, in Sheboygan county, on August 12, 1882, and was married at New London on Feb. 3, 1943, to Anna Russ. He had been a cheesemaker for many years but operated a small farm in the north city limits of Colby from 1926 to 1947. He operated cheese factories at Bear Creek from 1910 to 1914; at Auburndale until 1919; and then in the town of Frankfort, Marathon county, until he moved to Colby, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Holy Name Society.

Surviving are his widow and six children - Donald Schultz of Stratford, Walter of Antigo, Jerome at home, Mrs. Norman (Dorothy) Winkler of Unity, Mrs. Earl (Ruth) Mulkins of Wausau, and Mrs. Floyd (Marcia) Sossaman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Also two brothers and one sister - Leo of Cascade, Allen of Plymouth, Mrs. Joseph Gibbons of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. There are eleven grandchildren. Two children, John and Margaret, preceded him in death.

Out of town people here for the funeral were Mrs. Joseph Gibbons, and daughter, Beverly, and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Sossaman of Milwaukee, Leo Schultz of Cascade, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Schultz and Bernard Schultz of Plymouth, Mr. and Mrs. George Fischer of Racine, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Schernick and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Finch of Clintonville, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Prunty and son, Sylvester, and Art Reinke and daughter, Rachel, and Mrs. Frank Russ of Bear Creek, Mr. and Mrs. Thorval Dus of Royalton, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Ray Russ of Minneapolis, Arnold Hoppe and Frank Hoppe of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Niggemann of Rib Lake.
